It all started so innocently: one day my wife and I caught our 7-year-old son avidly watching a Lifetime Channel melodrama called Her Desperate Choice. What? Not cartoons? No blood and guts? Is this really our son?
We quizzed him about the program and much to our surprise, he understood the plot quite well. Furthermore, he thought it was a very good story!
I was so tickled at this turn of events I took a promotional graphic of the show and Photoshopped it to add in Joshua and Pam. It was a big hit with the family - if you count excessive eye rolling as a sign of approval. (I do.)
When Joshua began to attack imaginary Nazgul and swing strips of cardboard like they were swords I knew what I had to do next.
The cast of characters were Joshua as Frodo, Gimli, and Legolas. Pamela as Gandalf and Arwen. Our cat Quincy as Galadriel. Lastly, I'm Sam, Pippin, Merry, and Aragorn.
My wife said, "Damn, I make a good looking Gandalf." Joshua was impressed and his favorite part of the poster was Quincy as Galadriel.
I did this as a present to my wife to celebrate the 4th anniversary of our meeting. She really liked this one very much, however Josh's teeth kinda freaked her out.
Although this image is not done very well, it wins extra points for relevance, considering my wife works at the morgue, our white cat is named Quincy ME, and the original was a promotional photo for the Quincy ME TV series.
Undoubtedly you have figured out that this is a play upon The Matrix Reloaded. This was one of the few times I actually posed my family so that the pictures of their faces matched the content I was placing them in.
Lessons learned: my son will be very handsome when he grows up and even with the help of Photoshop, I am not an African-American.
here is something I hope is doing no evil.
there could be more of them
