I knew my time was running out. A quick look over my shoulder confirmed my worst suspicions; the KGB sponsored Death Patrols were right behind me. I had to make the ferry for the mainland out of this God-forsaken marxist country! Forget this, I laughed with determination as a slammed my foot down on the gas pedal. ‘Panther’, my specially imported Buick Grand National from the good ol’ U.S. of A., leaped forward as I slung the wheel around a tight curve, narrowly avoiding an ancient pagoda temple. Time was running out for me, I had to get the microfilm out or die trying. One car from the Death Patrol was sliding sickenly as it took the turn too wide. It slammed against the temple and burst into flames. The street behind me was blocked by yelling peasants as I sped away. This was the break I needed!
I turned Panther towards the shipyards in search of my ticket home. Alas, as I approached the main pier, the way was blocked by troops of the socialist army and my boat out was steaming away from the nearby dock. The stakes were too high, I had to go for it! Panther rapidly picked up speed like no other car could. I barreled straight at the reinforced platoon of troops. Then, with split second timing, I swung my car in line with a tippe over baggage cart. Panther sailed right up the gangplanks laid out for just this purpose. I was airborne. The sounds of AK-47’s rapidly firing I could here below me. And I landed squarely on many bales of hay right smack in the middle of the deck of the Democratic Dream, my boat home. The captain gave me the thumbs up and we were out of the harbor in seconds.
I thought about a great deal of things on my trip home. Mostly I thought about how if I didn’t have my HyperTech™ Power Chip™ I would have been half a second too late!
