Love From Afar

By pale moonlight
one starry night
I saw your willowy form.

With a keen eye
I watched you by
Happy, yet a little forlorn.

Inside my mind
I wanted to find
you tarrying right there.

I stole a kiss
of earthly bliss,
enough love for two to share.

The dream retreats
while my heart beats
I stare at you and you at me.

Perhaps the dream
you also had seen
and together the dream we could be.

But you walk away
and to myself I say
I will love her from afar yet another day.
