The Rose Within

I walk a path that is my life -
it's a long solitary road.
I nimbly hop the rocks of Strife
and try not to feel very old.

Anger - he tries to burn my days,
while Shame - she tries to freeze my nights.
The dogs of War eat he who strays
between the paths of wrong and right.

Thank God, I have walked long enough
to ignore these dim distractions -
to see diamonds of Love in the rough,
to see Hope in their refractions.

I hunger for a kindred soul;
my feminine spiritual twin.
One who seeks a similar goal;
an independent heroine.

The sun of Life shines down on me
and turns my hair from gold to white.
The moon of Heart wanders so free,
marks my path with her loving light.

I call to her, "Oh lovely moon,
lead me to your sacred temple.
I ask you to grant me this boon
where I may become your pupil."

Then I sink into restless sleep
and she gives me her eldritch sign.
I must travel within and deep,
where heart and soul become aligned.

And so within, I journey far
to arrive at a sylvan glade.
All things there align on a star
and that one star carries your name.

The star unfolds - becomes a rose
and shapes itself as your smooth skin,
limbs soft and body unclothed,
with deeper delights held within.

You touch me and I tremble,
I fall into your beautiful eyes,
the hosts of peace finally assemble,
as your lips shout joy to the skies!

The vision retreats and I return
to the world which is without.
"Where is this woman for which I yearn?
I must go and seek her out!"

The moon, she laughs a quick coy laugh
which gives me a little start.
She says she'll answer only half,
"She is already in your heart!"
